German Shorthair Pointers

The Wild Bunch.  I took this photo several years ago.  Got lots of mileage out of it.

Today at Norm's I was walking with Missy, Emma, Finnegan, and my kids and we met a couple that had with them a baby Shorthair.  We were amazed at it's small size and wondered if there were such a thing as a miniature German Shorthair.  The guys in this picture I believe were 8 weeks when I took the picture, but after today I question that.

This is my first post in a couple months.  I am going back in history just to get something posted and see if I can get myself to post on a much more regular basis.

Napoleon, For Our New Friend Missy

Napoleon is one of the coolest dogs about town.  I met him when he was a young pup, this picture was taken in December of 2008.
I post this today because this morning we met a really cool woman, and I hope a new friend, Missy, and she likes French Bulldogs. Besides, it is about time that Napoleon made an appearance here on the weblog, since I hold him in such high regard.
A truly beautiful boy.

Tilly

We are going to go see what it is like at the Island, so maybe we will have something new from Norm's later today, but for now here we have Tilly. In this photo she is about 8 weeks, I do believe.  The photo was taken in September of 2008. Wow! it seems like just a few months ago. Time flies.

Studio Portraits of Chocolate and Pals

We have Daryl, Ace, Chocolate, and Little Girl. Not shown is White Girl(Blanca)
In looking through my files looking for studio photos to post, (we are not walking at Norm's, too wet yet, the river is supposed to peak today) I find to my amazement that I have never shown these two wonderful photographs of Chocolate and his siblings.  It was when I was taking these photographs that I met my true dog love Nina Blanca.  The breeder, Rose, did not want her in the photographs because she was not, uh, well, she is deaf, hardly up to breed standard. They did not know what to do with her, and so I heard coming out of my mouth "I will take her"

I love this photo. I am never certain who is who between Daryl and Little Girl, but I will guess that we have Daryl, Ace in the back with Little Girl below and Chocolate on the right.
Cannot believe I have never posted these before. Keyword Studio Dogs. Thanks for looking.

Fricken' Huge Fish Reported on Norm's

It has been reported*  that Fricken' Huge fish are swimming about on Norm Schoenthal Island, so the kids and I are staying in the neighborhood today. Don't want my cherished kids to be nibbled on by any Frickin' Huge fish.
So, in lieu of our usual Norm's photos, today we go to the backlog of studio photos.  Here we have our boy Chocolate examining what we could pretend is a Fricken' Huge fish.  It probably approximates what his reaction would be to a little fricken fish.  Chocolate here is six months old, the picture was taken March 14, 2010. One of the last sessions I did in my old studio.
*Kelley Gililland reported at 10:30 tuesday that: "So walking at Norm's is a little bit wetter...a little more flooded. To put it simply.....I saw a VERY large fish swim across the trail! When I say large I mean Fricken Huge!"

Is he not the cutest boy.  He is really a teddy bear, with a beating heart. He had better be cute, he was sick last night and pooped all about the house.  I guess the wax in my ears caused me not to hear him ask to go out, Chocolate?  I was feeling so confident in his being totally house broke. They say you cannot be totally reliant on a dog being house broke till they are two. Touch wood, but Nina Blanca has never failed me, excepting the night I brought her home, Christmas 2009.
"Yah, your always telling everybody how great Blanca is, agh!!" says Chocolate.

Piper and Ronde

Today we met Sarah, her husband, baby and her friends Piper and Ronde.  It was fun to meet them. Again.  I took the above picture of Piper and Ronde in October of 2007 in my studio. Luckily Sarah recognized me, because I did not recognize anybody ( Sarah was wearing sunglasses, that's my excuse ) Great to see you Sarah and nice to see and meet your family.

Pipers Friend Macy

We walked at the Island today and I got some picture, but I wanted to continue for one more day on the Studio theme, so I could put up a photo of Macy, yesterdays featured friend Piper.  The pictures were taken on the same day. Same place. You look pretty good there Macy.

Piper, An English Shepherd

Meet Piper, a very beautiful English Shepherd that was rescued by Trish Kellinger.  Trish works at B.A.R.K. and does a lot to promote them.  She has been very kind by saying very nice things about my work.  She has a wonderful dog.
It was a great day at Norm's. I had to remove several layers to keep from roasting.  We stayed for 2 hours. I did not take any pictures, I did not see anyone, and the light was too hard and contrasty to take pictures of my kids.  It is supposed to be cloudy Friday.

Beau - Choco and Blanca's Daddy

This is Winslide's Texas Beau, Chocolate and Blanca's daddy.  He is about 7 months in this picture. Beau is an offspring of HOF WTCH HTCH Twin Oaks Winslow Breeze - Winslow's website - http://www.winslide.net/winslow.htm.   He was about a year and a half when Chocolate Blanca were born. He is a beauty. Chocolate's full name is TRose's Chocolate Dulce de Leche.  Blanca is just Niña Blanca, I like that. White Girl. Tootin the pedigree horn there, but my kids don't have any herding in them, Choco says "herd cows, you must be kidding" and Blanca would herd to her own horn, being deaf.

Today was too cold for me, plus I had stuff I had to get done, so we did not go to the Island.  Boooo say the kids. Unfortunately it is going to be worse tomorrow and Friday.  We may have to brave the cold one of those days, even for just a short while.

Studio Dog Simon Ball Boy

This is Simon.  He is quite young in this photo, maybe 8 weeks. He is my best model to date, being used on my business card and as the logo on this blog. This obviously is a studio photo, I have a bunch of photos of this photogenic boy which I will post when times are slow for new photos.
It has been very cold, so I have not gotten any photos for several days.  I met a beautiful dog today named Beau, but he was black and the light was too contrasty, so no pictures.  I hope to get another chance to photograph Beau.

Happy 6th Birthday Morgan

Lots of birthday here lately.  I think this is a real one, a yearly one and not monthly like yesterday. Perhaps monthy celebrations are okay up till 16 months.  I do not know many dog birthdays, so I am probably getting all I know out of the way.  It is zero on the thermometer out the window, so we are not going to the Island.  I went yesterday and it was not too bad, probably around 10 degrees. We just walked fast. But we took no pictures, too cold, so today we post a studio photo of the birthday boy Morgan.  He is 2 years old in this photograph I believe.

Happy Birthday Chocolate and Blanca

Choco and Blanca are sweet 16 today.  In the pictures above, Chocolate is shown at 6 weeks, and Blanca at 14 weeks.  I post these pictures today because we probably will not be going to Norms Island again this month because of the cold and because Blanca has hurt her foot and we want her to stay off of it for a couple of days.  We hope to be back at the Island on February 1st. I am sure everyone knows that is sixteen candles months.

Introducing Jake

Jake is a regular at Norm's Island.  He goes everyday with Kelly, K9 Playtime. This is one of my very favorite photos, and a good way for me to begin introducing studio portraits to the blog.
